Your Honor Season 2 Premieres in December After Switching Showrunners

The acclaimed Showtime series Your Honor has gotten its premiere date for season 2. Originally, the show was planned as a limited series when it debuted on Showtime in 2020. Developed by Peter Moffat and starring Emmy winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) in the lead role, the series wound up getting renewed for a second season based on the high viewership and strong reviews garnered by season 1.

“We were blown away by Your Honor … by the power of Peter’s storytelling, by the depth of Bryan’s performance, and by the overwhelming reaction from our subscribers who watched in record numbers,” Gary Levine, co-president of entertainment for Showtime, said in a statement at the time. “Imagine our delight when we learned that Peter believed he had more story to tell and Bryan felt he had more depths to plumb. So, along with its millions of fans, I am gleefully shouting ‘Encore!'”

Cranston has since revealed that season 2 will also serve as the final season of the show. Speaking about Your Honor on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, the actor confirmed that the show drawing in such high ratings led to Showtime ordering another season, even if there were no plans at the start for there to be any additional seasons.

“As they tell me, it got higher ratings than any other series they’ve ever had — and so, one more season of that,” Cranston said.

Now, per THR, the premiere date for season 2 of Your Honor on Showtime has finally been revealed. The show will return to Showtime on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at 9 p.m., following a streaming debut on Dec. 9.

Your Honor Gets a New Showrunner

One big change between seasons is a change in showrunners for Your Honor. Peter Moffat had served as showrunner for the first season but has since left for “personal reasons” and is no longer involved. Joey Hartstone has replaced Moffat as showrunner for season 2. Hartstone had served as an executive producer on the first season alongside Robert and Michelle King, as well as Rob Golenberg, Alon Aranya, Ron Ninio, Shlomo Mashiach, Ram Landes, Ron Eilon, and Danna Stern. King Size’s Liz Glotzer is also exec producing with Cranston and James Degus of Moonshot Entertainment.

Of course, Bryan Cranston returns. Other cast members for season 2 include Margo Martindale, Amy Landecker, Rosie Perez, Lilli Kay, Keith Machekanyanga, Andrene Ward-Hammond, Jimi Stanton, Benjamin Flores Jr., Hope Davis, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.

Season 2 of Your Honor arrives on Showtime on Dec. 11 at 9 p.m. You can check out a first look trailer for the second season below.
