Thor: Love and Thunder Posters Tease This Month’s Marvel Movie Release

A whole host of new posters tease the arrival of the large ensemble cast of the upcoming Marvel sequel Thor: Love and Thunder. Released courtesy of Marvel Studios, a new set of character posters offer another look at the main players of the next MCU adventure, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, and Natalie Portman as The Mighty Thor, with several other posters grouping them all together in the way that Marvel promos love to do.

Each poster puts the spotlight on a different character from Thor: Love and Thunder, and show a stern-looking Thor (Chris Hemsworth) wielding the mighty Stormbreaker; Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) as her own superhero, The Mighty Thor, holding a reforged Mjölnir; the villainous Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) who stands determined with the All-Black Necrosword; the newly crowned King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson); the ever-loyal Korg (Taika Waititi); leader of the Olympians Zeus (Russell Crowe); and finally he mystical goats of Thor, Toothgrinder and Toothgnasher.

Along with the character posters, several more promos bring the whole gang together, with another advertising the Marvel movie in RealD3D via a tattoo on Thor’s brawny arm.

Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

The sequel will bring Oscar winner Christian Bale into the MCU fray, with the revenge-driven Gorr the God Butcher hyped by director Taika Waititi as “probably the best villain that Marvel’s ever had.” Waititi recently added further hype to the character’s arrival, saying, “I’d say he’s the most sympathetic villain they’ve had. He’s also tested the highest of any villain Marvel has had.”

While Thor: Love and Thunder will add a variety of new elements to the world of Thor, including Gorr and his tragic origin, Jane Foster and her emergence as a Marvel hero, and more, it has now been revealed that Thor: Love and Thunder will be the shortest MCU installment in years, clocking in at a brisk 119 minutes.

Directed by Taika Waititi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper.

Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 8, 2022, as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
