Dream the world anew with the latest posters from the upcoming Netflix fantasy adaptation, The Sandman. Released courtesy of Netflix Geeked, the posters offer another look at Tom Sturridge as lead character Morpheus and put the spotlight on both Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian and Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine.
The Sandman will bring seminal author Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel to the screen for the first time. The tale of dreams, nightmares, reality and fantasy is packed to the brim with captivating characters, and The Corinthian is by far one of the most terrifying in the bunch. Due to be played by Logan star Boyd Holbrook, The Corinthian is one of the many nightmarish creations of main character, Dream. Able to possess human beings, physically transforming them in his own image in the process, The Corinthian uses shades to hide a terrifying set of jagged teeth where his eyeballs should be and uses his eyehole gnashers to devour his victim’s eyes.

Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman, meanwhile, will play Johanna Constantine, an occult detective whose last name will be familiar to comic book fans. While the source material featured both the beloved John Constantine and his ancestor Johanna, the series will leave out John, with Coleman instead playing both the eighteenth-century and present-day Constantine’s.
This is sure to disappoint some, but Gaiman has since explained that it is due to a rights issue. “The rights situation with John is certainly circumscribed right now,” he explained. “But the plan to have Lady Johanna and Joanna be in the story and played by the same person was there from the start. It seemed tidier. So it worked out.”
Outside of the supporting characters, the posters remind us once again how well-suited Tom Sturridge is to the role of the King of Dreams visually, as well as demonstrating how the series will bring his realm into live-action.
The Sandman Will Debut on Netflix in August
A trailer has now landed for The Sandman, revealing our first detailed look at the series. “There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies,” the official synopsis reads. “But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way.”
Developed by Neil Gaiman, David S. Goyer, and Allan Heinberg, The Sandman stars Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, Donna Preston, Jenna Coleman, Joely Richardson, David Thewlis, Patton Oswalt, and Mark Hamill.
The trailer finally revealed the release date for The Sandman, with the long, long-awaited adaptation scheduled to debut on Netflix on August 5, 2022, with a ten-episode first season.
