The Mandalorian will return to Disney+ in February 2023. As part of a number of announcements, exclusive images, and new footage, Star Wars Celebration brought with it a new poster and release date for The Mandalorian season 3. As one of the most popular series on Disney+, The Mandalorian will see the return of Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian, who will once again be accompanied on his adventures by Grogu aka The Child aka Baby Yoda. Having wrapped filming a few months ago, fans now know exactly how long they have to wait to see the next chapter in Din Djarin’s story.
The second season of The Mandalorian delivered some of the best Star Wars action to be put on screen for a while, and with it came the reintroduction of bounty hunter Boba Fett. The bounty hunter’s own series came to Disney+ in December 2021, and in the last episodes, Din and Grogu both made appearances in the show. While this seemed to take Boba Fett’s series out from under him, it also set up the pair’s return in the third season of The Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Footage Was Revealed at Star Wars Celebration
Disney Platform Distribution
As well as announcing the February release of the new season of The Mandalorian, a sizzle reel from season 3 was revealed to audiences at Star Wars Celebration. Starting with the Armorer talking to Din and Grogu, advising the titular hero that he is beyond redemption, but is told by Din that he wants to go to Mandalore to seek forgiveness. In the following montage, there are a number of scenes that tease the return of Bo-Katan, a fight in space, and Grogu being asked by Bo-Katan, “Did you think your dad was the only Mandalorian?”
While The Mandalorian is clearly now going to start exploring Mandalore and the mythology around the Darksaber, there is still a lot of character development to come for both Din and Grogu in the new season. With the footage having now been released at Star Wars Celebration, it is surely only a matter of time before a teaser trailer for the new season is released online, which may give fans a better look at what is coming for Din and Grogu in their next chapter.
Of course, there is a lot more to come from the Star Wars canon, and some of that was teased at Star Wars Celebration with a new trailer for Andor being shown and released online, and they revealed that Jon Watt’s new Star Wars project will be entitled Skeleton Crew and will star Jude Law as its lead. All of this is in addition to the recent promise by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy that there is going to be a lot of emphases put on Star Wars movies in the coming years, and that means that there are a lot of exciting times to come from the galaxy far, far away in the not so distant future.
