One of the newcomers coming into season 3 of The Boys has been Laurie Holden of The Walking Dead fame. Now playing a washed-up superhero, Holden’s Crimson Countess was a part of a formerly prestigious team known as Payback, the elite team of “crime-fighters” that existed in the years before the Seven was established. The new season has seen Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and the Boys going after different members of Payback for information that will hopefully help them defeat the increasingly-volatile Homelander (Antony Starr).
At this point, Crimson Countess has taken up activism and feels especially passionate about improving the lives of chimpanzees. She has made this very clear with her song and music video for “Chimps Don’t Cry,” which has been featured in The Boys. Now, the full music video is on YouTube to stream with fans of The Boys able to watch Holden sing about how we need to “save the chimpanzee.” You can watch the video below.

In part, the lyrics state, “You can’t tell they’re hurting / ‘Cause their eyes stay dry / Inside, they’re suffering in solitude / Chimps don’t cry.”
Written by Vought International, the video’s description adds, “After a lifetime of using her super powers to protect America as part of legendary supe team Payback, Crimson Countess is using the power of music to help chimps live happier lives. Vought cares about simian well-being. So for the next seven hours, 1% of every Big Homie Burger sold will be donated to Crimson Countess’ Chimp Country Foundation to help troubled Chimps. About Vought International: Today’s heroes. Tomorrow’s future.”
Laurie Holden’s Crimson Countess Is a Part of Payback
Laurie Holden’s character Crimson Countess is a part of Payback, an elite group of superheroes led by Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy. It had been reported that Soldier Boy was killed in action, breaking up the team and leading to its members pursuing new endeavors once Homelander and the Seven became the hottest new group. Ahead of the season, showrunner Eric Kripke teased how all of the Payback members would get their time to shine in the new episodes.
“I mean all of them! I mean I think they all get amazing things to do,” he told The Illuminerdi. “I mean season 3’s fun because it’s not just about Soldier Boy, but it’s about the team he was a part of which is called Payback. And Laurie Holden plays Crimson Countess and there’s a bunch of other heroes who are amazing. So, sort of seeing who was the Seven before the Seven. And what was life like for Vought? In the history of Vought what was it like in the 60s and 70s and 80s? To dig into the history of the world, not just the present has been a lot of fun.”
You can watch The Boys on Prime Video, with the first five episodes of season 3 now available. New episodes are released every Friday.
