The CW’s Superman & Lois returns Tuesday with the season 2 finale airing on June 28. Fans have long been frustrated or at least eager to see an Arrowverse connection and an appearance from Superman’s cousin, Supergirl, to help with all the battles, and now they will finally get some answers. Even though all the Arrowverse heroes were established as living in the same shared universe following Crisis on Infinite Earths, and John Diggle (David Ramsey) made an appearance on Superman & Lois, there was no mention of key players like Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). Now, Clark is somewhat incapacitated after being drained of his Superman powers by control freak Ally Allston (Rya Kihlstedt).

It has been pretty evident that Superman & Lois is set on Earth-Prime. When fans last saw Diggle on the series in season 1, he alluded to a Green Lantern storyline. Ramsey is set to appear again as Diggle in the finale and his scene has more to do with Superman & Lois’ future rather than its past. According to showrunner Todd Helbing:
“That scene is to tee up our big bad for season 3. Better get your rest, Smallville!”

Todd Helbing spoke to TV Insider in a recent interview about how the season 2 finale will reveal how the show fits into the Arrowverse. Without giving too much away, he confirmed that the way the franchise tie in will be explained. In the finale, Lois and Lucy’s dad, Sam Lane, will be delivering a speech that makes it clear where the series falls within this shared universe. Helbing excitedly teases:
“[General Lane (Dylan Walsh)] mentions [things] where you’re gonna be like, ‘Wait, what?’ And then he gives a speech that is very clear. You learn everything from him, General Lane has the most inspirational grandfather/father moment that he’s had so far in the series. We kind of went crazy with the spectacle.”
With only two episodes left, fans will see a power-thirsty Ally Alston ramp up her plan to fuse the multiple universes. Because of Ally, Superman is out of commission, forcing Lois, the twins, John Henry Irons, and his daughter Natalie to step up. After Clark and old friend Mayor Lana Lang rally their frightened neighbors into action, a series of unimaginable events threaten not only Smallville but also the very existence of mankind on Earth.
