A new image from the second part of Stranger Things Season 4 offers us our first look at the return of Millie Bobby Brown at the now once again super-powered Eleven. Released in the latest issue of Empire Magazine, the image shows Eleven outside the confines of the laboratory. And she looks angry. Her enemies won’t like her when she’s angry.
The first, record-breaking, part of Stranger Things Season 4 picks up around six months after the Battle of Starcourt. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends is separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces thanks to a secret Soviet laboratory under Starcourt, which seeks to open the gateway to the Upside Down, allowing the entities from the Upside Down to possess people in Hawkins.

Following the monumental reveal regarding Vecna’s identity, something which Eleven came to realize after successfully exploring her repressed memories, Stranger Things Season 4 Part 1 left a lot of threads still hanging, including what Eleven will do once she awakens with her mind and powers now fully intact. While this newly released image does not give away too much, it at least confirms that Eleven will leave the lab, where she will no doubt re-join her friends and take the fight to Vecna and the Upside Down.
Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 Will be a Punch Right in the Heart
If the first part of Stranger Things Season 4 was not already enough of an emotional thrill ride for you, producer and director Shawn Levy has teased the impact of part 2, warning that it will “punch you right in the heart.”
“I’ll just tell you that we are hard at work on volume two,” Levy said. “There’s so much being written as far as the runtimes of these episodes, and the hefty runtime of episode nine, in particular. Having seen both those finale episodes, they are as emotional as they are cinematic. Holy shit, they are definitely a treat for the eyes, but they punch you right in the heart. So, that’s what I’ll say about that.”
Unlike previous seasons, the fourth season of Stranger Things has been split into two parts. The first part was released at the end of last month and lasted seven hugely dramatic episodes. The second part, which will be available to stream next month, will only run for two episodes. But what epic episodes they promise to be. Titled “Chapter Eight: Papa” and “Chapter Nine: The Piggyback,” the runtime for both episodes tease a grand finale. Episode 8 will clock in at 1 hour and 25 minutes, while episode 9 will be nothing less than a movie, and a pretty long movie at that, with a runtime of 2 hours and 19 minutes.
Starring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, and Joe Keery, Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 will land on Netflix on July 1, 2022.
