Obi-Wan Kenobi Director Addresses a Second Season: ‘There Are More Stories To Tell’

Obi-Wan Kenobi is almost at an end of Disney+, but according to director Deborah Chow there are “more stories to tell” and that could lead to a second season of the show. It has taken a long time to get Ewan McGregor back in the Star Wars franchise as the Jedi Master, but with Obi-Wan Kenobi being marketed as a limited series with a precise story to tell it seemed like the return would be a short-lived one. However, Chow has hinted that with a ten-year time gap between the end of the series and Star Wars: A New Hope, this may not be the end of Kenobi’s journey. She told RadioTimes.com:

“You know, we always did conceive of this as a limited series. So it’s not an adventure-of-the-week sort of story. It’s one big story with a beginning, middle and end. So I think this story was very much conceived to be its own standalone. I mean, there are of course more stories that you could tell. There’s obviously another 10 years before we get to [Star Wars:] A New Hope and with a character like Obi-Wan Kenobi, I think even just watching him ride across the sand sometimes is interesting. So, who knows? It’s hard to say right now, but it was not the intention. Honestly, at this point, the only thing I’m thinking about is taking vacation. I haven’t gotten there. I can’t even conceive of it yet. I just need to actually finish the show to get there first.”

Hayden Christensen’s Return As Darth Vader Has Been Important To The Series

Lucasfilm

When it comes to the return of Ewan McGregor to the Star Wars franchise, his comeback may not have played out quite so well if Darth Vader had not been the villain of the story. Hayden Christensen reprising his role as Vader, and as Anakin Skywalker in some flashback sequences have sent fans wild. This has come as a surprise to the actor, who suffered a lot of criticism for the prequel movies, but has been welcomed back to the fold like a prodigal son. He previously said:

“I’ve gotten so many nice messages from people, from friends, showing their support. And it’s just it’s been a great honor for me to get to come back to this character and to feel the support from the fans. It is hugely meaningful for me and ultimately, that’s the reason why we get to come back and do all this. So yeah, I value their feelings a lot.”

Since Obi-Wan Kenobi’s debut, Christensen has spoken about how he would love to reprise his role again and possibly even get his own show. While there were previously vague plans for a Darth Vader movie, this , like the original plan for Kenobi, fell by the wayside after the disappointment of Solo: A Star Wars Story. However, there is no denying that the series of Obi-Wan Kenobi has stirred up something in the fan base and we all know what happens when that occurs. With just one episode of the series to go, it may not be too long before we get news of both actor’s future in the Star Wars franchise.
