The Story Behind The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power takes place thousands of years before the events in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. This series follows familiar and new characters as they try to stop evil from re-emerging in Middle-earth.
In this world, time is divided among globally impactful events, which is why this period is called the Second Age. As the title suggests, The Rings of Power tells the story leading up to Sauron’s ring’s creation. The show also illustrates how Middle-earth struggles to recover from a brutal war. Viewers learn more about other characters and references in the franchise, such as a young Galadriel before she became powerful and how the Kings of Men empire was shattered.
