Ms. Marvel Actor Invites Audience to the ‘Magic’ After Watching First Episodes

Ms. Marvel will debut on Disney+ on June 8, 2022. The six-episode miniseries will tell the story of Kamala Khan, a Pakistani immigrant teenager who finds herself wielding cosmic superpowers just like her favorite superheroine, Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. After Iman Vellani’s repeated expressions of excitement about the show, her co-star Saagar Shaikh has joined her to share his excitement about the series, which is set in the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Talking to On The Red Carpet, Saagar Shaikh revealed that the show will be magically fantastic, and fans may further hype their expectations. He said:

Expect magic. It’s just so heartwarming. I recently got to watch the first couple of episodes, and it had my heart fluttering. It was pulling at those heartstrings. It’s just such a cool show.

In 2020, Shaikh celebrated his dream casting in the show via Twitter.

i got my dream job alhumdulillah.

Shaikh emphasized how the show honors Pakistani culture and how the show is by far the most relatable experience on-screen for him. He added:

It’s great. There’s so many references that my parents would get, and I don’t think my parents could watch any other show and just relate to it as much as we can relate to a show like this.

Saagar Shaikh will have a supporting role in Ms. Marvel, playing Kamala’s older brother Amir. Shaikh describes Amir as Kamala’s support shoulder. He wishes to be her inspiration and support her in her newfound struggles.

Earlier in an interview with ScreenRant, he has said,

I’m her older brother Amir. I don’t know how much I can or can’t say, but Amir is the older brother, he wants to be her guide, he wants to be the shoulder she can lean on, he wants to be the one that she looks up to while also looking up to her.

Ms. Marvel is Only the First Phase of Kamala’s Story

Ms. Marvel would not be the last time we’ll see Kamala Khan in action. While the six-episode series will introduce her to this grand circus of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the show will also set up a potential plot for the upcoming sequel, The Marvels. The Marvels has confirmed to feature Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel alongside Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. Teyonah Parris will reprise her role as Monica Rambeau from WandaVision. The film will serve as a continuation of Rambeau’s story, delving further into understanding the nature of her new powers.

The plot details for both Ms. Marvel and The Marvels are primarily under wraps, but several storylines are associated with the characters waiting to unravel. Ms. Marvel releases Disney+ on June 8 and will end the run on July 13, almost near the release of Thor: Love and Thunder.

Per Marvel’s official synopsis for Ms. Marvel:

An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination – particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home – that is until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers, right?
