Minka Kelly, Maggie Grace and Dermot Mulroney to Star in Blackwater Lane, Based on Bestselling Thriller

Minka Kelly, Maggie Grace and Dermot Mulroney will lead the upcoming psychological thriller Blackwater Lane, per The Hollywood Reporter. Based on the 2017 best-selling novel The Breakdown, by B.A. Paris, the film will follow Kelly’s character, a woman who drives by a stranded motorist whose murder is later revealed. Following a series of terrifying events, Kelly’s character begins to believe she is the murderer’s next victim. Mulroney and Grace portray her husband and best friend, who worry about her sanity.

Filming for Blackwater Lane has begun in Suffolk, U.K. Jeff Celentano (Say it in Russian) directs, with Elizabeth Fowler (Official Secrets), Warren Ostergard (The Hill), and Lucinda Thakrar (Confession) producing. Alex Lane serves as co-producer. Financing for the film comes from executive producers Ron Cundy and Kompros Films, Phil Hunt of HeadGear, and Norman Merry of LipSync.

B.A. Paris is a renowned author with an international fan base, who is known for her works within the psychological thriller genre. The Breakdown was a bestseller, appearing on both the New York Times and Sunday Times lists. The author’s other novels include Behind Closed Doors, Bring Me Back, The Understudy, The Dilemma, and The Therapist. The Breakdown is the first of her books to be adapted for the big screen.

Kelly is best known for her appearances on television series like Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, and Almost Human. She most recently appeared as Dawn Granger on Titans and as Samantha on Euphoria. Her memoir, Tell Me Everything, is scheduled for release on May 2, 2023.

Grace’s most notable portrayals include Shannon Rutherford on Lost, which earned her and the cast a Screen Actors Guild Award, and as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. She also appeared in The Twilight Saga, Californication and Fear the Walking Dead. She will next appear in The Secret Art of Human Flight, about a grieving widow who turns to a mysterious self-help book for assistance, and the horror film Incident on 459.

Mulroney is a veteran actor whose credits date back to the 1980s. He is best know for his work on films including Young Guns, Point of No Return, Angels in the Outfield, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Zodiac and Insidious: Chapter 3. In 2015 he portrayed Sean Pierce on Showtime’s Shameless. On the small screen, he also appeared on Arrested Development, USA’s The Purge, and The Righteous Gemstones. He will appear in the sixth installment of the Scream franchise.
