Netflix released a teaser for the upcoming fourth and final season of Never Have I Ever, a series praised for being a watershed moment for breaking South Asian stereotypes. It was also announced that Love, Victor star Michael Cimino is joining the series as Ethan.
Netflix’s Never Have I Ever is a coming-of-age comedy about the complicated life of a modern-day first-generation Indian American teenage girl from Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), an overachieving high school sophomore who has a short fuse that gets her into difficult situations. Back in March, when the series was renewed for a fourth and final season, the show’s executive producer Mindy Kaling teased: “We can’t wait to reveal all the steamy romance and hilarious adventures we have in store for you.”

Erin Underhill, President of Universal Television, said about getting four seasons of the series:
Four seasons of Never Have I Ever is truly exciting and a little bittersweet because, as a loyal fan, I’d love Devi’s journey to go on forever. But just like high school, all great things must come to an end. A big shout out to our fearless Cricket Queens, Mindy and Lang, and our exceptional cast and crew, who have authentically captured the emotional rollercoaster ride that defines our teenage years. We can’t wait to experience all of the messiness, the LOLs and the tears that will surely unfold in Devi’s senior year.
Michael Cimino Is Playing Ethan
With one of Devi’s love interests, Paxton (Darren Barnet), heading off to college, Ben (Jaren Lewison)needs some competition. So here comes Cimino’s character Ethan, the new boy on campus. Ramakrishnan teased, “Damn, Devi’s gonna have her work cut out for her.”
And with the end of Love, Victor earlier this year, Cimino, who played the titular character on the Hulu series, is transferring to a new school. In the Never Have I Ever teaser released at Tudum, it was revealed that the actor will be playing “a smoldering bad boy,” Ethan. To which, Cimino said in the teaser, “Say hello to the new heartthrob at Sherman Oaks High.”
Barnet replied, “Hey man, we got handsome nerd and cool jock covered.”
Never Have I Ever Season 4 will be the final season and premiere in 2023. From executive producer Mindy Kaling, with Lang Fisher serving as co-creator, executive producer, showrunner and writer, Never Have I Ever is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and executive produced by 3 Arts Entertainment’s Howard Klein and David Miner.
