Locke & Key Unlocks New Trailer for Third and Final Season at Netflix

The final season of Locke & Key comes to Netflix next month, and the official trailer has been released along with the official key art. Set to premiere on Aug. 10, season 3 will serve as the final season of the series, putting an end to the story with the Locke family uncovering their most dangerous threat yet. You can watch the trailer below.

Locke & Key is based on the best-selling comic book series by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez of IDW Entertainment. It comes to Netflix courtesy of Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House). You can read the logline for season 3 below.

“Locke & Key is a coming-of-age mystery about love, loss, and the unshakable bonds that define family. The Locke family uncovers more magic within Keyhouse, while a new threat — the most dangerous one yet — looms in Matheson with plans of his own for the keys.”

Locke & Key Wraps Up the Series With Season 3

The plan at the start was for this show to last three seasons, so this isn’t a case of Netflix axing a series without warning as is the case sometimes at the streaming platform. When it was announced that season 3 would conclude Locke & Key on Netflix, the creative team clarified that this had been by design and that the third season would end the series in a satisfactory way.

“Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion,” Cuse and Averill said in a statement. “As storytellers, we are grateful that we had the opportunity to tell our version of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s incredible story exactly the way we wanted. We’re keeping the magical keys, though, for our own personal use.”

The series stars Darby Stanchfield, Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, Jackson Robert Scott, Kevin Durand, Sherri Saum, Brendan Hines, and Coby Bird. Locke & Key is executive produced by Aron Eli Coleite, Joe Hill, Chris Ryall with Lydia Antonini and Ted Adams for IDW, Lindsey Springer for Genre Arts, Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, David Alpert and Rick Jacobs for Circle of Confusion, and John Weber and Frank Siracusa for Take 5.
