Latest Prey Poster Teases the Epic Battle Between Comanche Warrior & Predator

It’s fight or flight in the latest (and possibly final) poster for the upcoming fifth installment in the Predator franchise, Prey. Released by the official Hulu Twitter account, this latest look at Prey puts Amber Midthunder’s Comanche warrior at its center, as she leaps into battle against the legendary movie monster.

Prey is the latest outing in the long-running Predator franchise, and will take the franchise back in time to explore the first time that a Predator comes to Earth. Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey tells the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people.

The striking imagery of the poster perfectly conveys the mismatched fight that the warrior has on her hands, as she uses axes and bows and arrows against the technologically advanced extra-terrestrial hunter.

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (The Boys, 10 Cloverfield Lane) and written by Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan, Treadstone), Prey stars Amber Midthunder (Legion) as Naru, the young Comanche warrior who must fight to protect her tribe against a Predator. Starring alongside Midthunder are Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope, and Dane DiLiegro as the Predator.

First Reactions to Prey Have Heaped Praise on the Predator Prequel

Prey recently premiered at the San Diego Comic-Con event, and the first reactions to the Predator installment have been overwhelmingly positive. Many have called Prey the Predator follow-up that fans have been waiting for since the first movie introduced the iconic monster movie over 30 years ago, with some saying that Prey even surpasses its classic predecessor.

“#PREY REVIEW: EPIC,” begins one such reaction. “Predator is back & better than ever, this surpasses the original film! VIOLENT AF. SO MUCH GORE. This isn’t just another predator movie, it’s one of the BEST action/horror films ever! A fitting end to Nat’s journey, while also setting up what’s next.”

“Prey is my favorite Predator movie. (Coming from someone who’s a big fan of the original and also 2010’s Predators.) Love how the story is a deeply personal journey — one powered by Comanche tradition just as much as it is by Predator-sparked thrills,” said one lucky audience member. “#PreyMovie is phenomenal. It’s the sequel the Predator franchise needed and manages to stand on its own,” said another adding, “I’ve loved Amber Midthunder’s work and it makes me so happy to see her thrive. So happy to finally get to talk #Prey.”

Heaping praise on star Amber Midthunder, director Dan Trachtenberg, and the way that Prey does justice to the Predator, this reaction sums up how we will all hopefully feel once Prey lands on Hulu next month; “Prey is as worthy & badass a Predator movie as we’ve seen since the original. Beautifully shot, tightly written, excellent characters, and some of the grossest, most wildly entertaining sci-fi action in the franchise. It’s exciting, fun, powerful, & I can’t wait to watch it again.”

Prey is scheduled to be released by 20th Century Studios as a Hulu original film on August 5, 2022.
