Alongside the image, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has provided further insight into Namor’s role in the MCU sequel. Sadly, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever found itself in a difficult position following the untimely death of Chadwick Boseman, with Namor being brought in as a threat that will hit the nation of Wakanda amid the loss of its beloved leader. “How do you continue moving forward in the face of great loss and great tragedy, and in the face of a new threat, when all you want to do is maybe hide from the world, and process your grief, and a new, gigantic threat arrives that must be confronted? Which, of course, is Namor,” Feige explained.

Actor Tenoch Huerta meanwhile hopes that Namor will have the same appeal with audiences as previous Black Panther bad guy, Killmonger, played in the first movie by Michael B. Jordan. “I hope so!” Huerta laughed when asked if he thinks Marvel fans will feel the same affection for Namor as they did Killmonger. “I never try to compare myself with other actors with my characters. But, of course, he made a great antagonist, and people loved him. I loved that character when I saw the first Black Panther movie. I hope that people engage in the same way with Namor.”
