Kevin Bacon Says His Will & Grace Cameo Gets More Attention From Fans Than His Movies

Kevin Bacon has become an icon of cinema over the decades since he became an early victim of the Friday the 13th franchise, yes despite appearances in much-loved movies such as Footloose, Tremors, Apollo 13, and X-Men: First Class, it is his cameo role in sitcom Will & Grace that most fans want to talk to him about. The actor explained in a recent interview with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes on their Smartless podcast, that despite a 45-year career, that one relatively low-key cameo is the thing that still always comes up.

Kevin Bacon is one of the most loved actors in Hollywood, and even when he is playing the bad guy his fans just can’t get enough of him. While he recently appeared in the horror movie They/Them, Bacon has a number of upcoming roles in the works, which includes, like everyone, the possibility of a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he feels that he will have to go some way to beat that Will & Grace appearance if his fans’ reaction is anything to go by. He said:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“I can’t tell you how many times I’ll do that walking-through-the-airport thing, Sean, and people will come up to me and say, “Do you know what the best thing you ever did was?” And it’ll be Will & Grace, and it doesn’t necessarily pop in to my head as one of the options. I had a great time doing it, don’t get me wrong, but yeah, that really made an impression on people.”

What Makes Kevin Bacon’s Will & Grace Cameo So Special?

Kevin Bacon made his Will & Grace cameo in season 5 of the show, playing a fictionalized version of himself. Although his appearance was fleeting, his ability to make fun of himself, as well the moment he recreated his famous Footloose dance with Will towards the end of the episode, has seen it take over many of his more dramatic movie roles to be a firm favorite with fans. It seems from his comments that Bacon had as much fun taking part in the episode as everyone did watching it.

While that is a big part of his past, Bacon’s future is full of potential movie gems. It has been reported from a number of sources that he will be joining the MCU as part of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special this December, and is additionally playing major roles in the reboot of The Toxic Avenger with Peter Dinklage, and in Beverley Hills Cop 4 with Eddie Murphy. He has also recently addressed his fan-casting as a potential replacement for Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger by Englund himself.

Whatever else Kevin Bacon does in his career, there is little doubt that he will continue to see his fans loving every minute of it, but the real question is, will anything ever beat that Will & Grace cameo? For the majority of his followers, it seems unlikely.
