MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Not too much has been revealed regarding the plot of John Wick: Chapter 4, but some logical leaps can be made. The last audiences saw of the intrepid hitman he was being left to once again fight for his life after being declared excommunicado following the events of 2017’s John Wick: Chapter 2. Now with a hefty bounty put upon his head, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum sees Wick set out to seek help to save himself from a barrage of ruthless assassins and bounty hunters.
The second chapter ends with Wick being shot by his friend Winston before falling from the roof of The Continental. In the final scene, Wick is shows badly injured and teaming up with Laurence Fishburne’s Bowery King, with the pair hellbent on taking the fight directly to the High Table. Going by this first look image, Wick’s praying has clearly paid off, as he looks better than ever in John Wick: Chapter 4 despite the tumble he took.
John Wick: Chapter 4 Will Make the Antihero Hitman Suffer & Could Act as a Conclusion
While plot details remain scarce, director Chad Stahelski has revealed that John Wick: Chapter 4 will make the character suffer more than ever before. “We keep finding new and interesting ways to have John Wick suffer,” the filmmaker revealed. “That’s where the action comes from. Figure out how to make him suffer, and then design backward.”
Stahelski has also stated that, despite there being plans for further John Wick outings, John Wick: Chapter 4 does have a conclusive element to it. “I think Chapter 4 is a good continuation of all three previous films, and it’s got a bit of a conclusion to it, which is great,” he explained. “We introduce a ton of new characters that have a lot to say about John Wick from his past and from, obviously, present. I think it’s brotherhood, it’s hope. It’s what the life would really be like as a bit of an existential crisis with John, and I think that’s the fun part of the movie.”
Starring Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick as Charon, Rina Sawayama, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, and Clancy Brown alongside Keanu Reeves, John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to be released on March 24, 2023.
