HBO’s The Last of Us Poster Tells Audiences to ‘Look for the Light’

The marketing for HBO’s The Last of Us series is beginning to ramp up, with a new poster officially released. The show, set to premiere in 2023, stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the lead roles as they venture into the world of a zombie apocalypse. The series is based on the video games of the same name, created by Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog, with Druckmann returning as the creator, writer, and executive producer for the television show. Craig Mazin, known for his work on the Emmy Award-winning series Chernobyl, pairs with Druckmann in the same roles as co-creator.

The poster shows Joel (Pascal) and Ellie (Ramsey) against the backdrop of a ravaged city with overgrown plant life and destroyed vehicles on an abandoned highway. “When you’re lost in the darkness, look for the light,” the poster reads, referencing an iconic line from the video game series. The Last of Us will not only deal with the aggressive, infected zombies that infest the world but will also look at human relationships and the evil within apocalyptic communities. The official poster, released courtesy of The Last of Us Twitter account, can be found below.

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey Share a Close Relationship

HBO

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will be spending a lot of time together for the foreseeable future, as their characters are intertwined throughout The Last of Us. Ramsey recently discussed her relationship with Pascal and their filming process for the series. The actress noted they filmed for over a year, “which is quite a long time when you’ve only lived for 19 years.” She continued, saying Pascal left a kind note for her after they wrapped the first season.

“Pedro wrote a little card to me at the end, saying, ‘How interesting that something so huge and life-changing should happen so early in your life and so late in mine.’ I thought it was a really sweet observation and I just had the best time.”

Pascal has been a part of several notable projects throughout his career, including the titular role in The Mandalorian and a starring role in Game of Thrones. Ramsey would appear in the same series, though a few seasons later, playing Lyanna Mormont in the popular HBO fantasy series. Fans can see the relationship between Joel and Ellie unfold early next year, on Jan. 15.
