Deadpool 3 Director Shares a Cozy Photo of Himself, Ryan Reynolds & Hugh Jackman

Director Shawn Levy has teased the terrible time that he, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman will have bringing the upcoming Marvel sequel, Deadpool 3, to the big screen. The filmmaker, who will helm the Deadpool threequel, which has now been confirmed to be bringing back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, took to social media to share a new image of the headline trio seemingly having a great time just announcing to the world what they have in store for the continuing adventures of the Merc with a Mouth.

Sat alongside his leading men, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, with the pair now all set to reprise the roles of Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively, Shawn Levy looks hugely excited to be finally realizing his vision for Deadpool 3. A vision that Levy has wanted to realize for some time. As he himself has now pointed out.

It has now been confirmed by both Reynolds and Jackman that Deadpool 3 will feature the surprise return of Jackman’s iteration of Wolverine. Somehow, despite this being the age of the movie spoiler, Jackman’s role in proceedings has been successfully kept a secret for some time. Something that Levy puts down to his work on Stranger Things.

“I want to take minute to thank #StrangerThings for training me to keep my big mouth shut. This news has been burning a hole in my lips for weeks now,” the director said following the announcement.

Ryan Reynolds suddenly took to social media on Tuesday to reveal that, yes, Deadpool 3 will bring back Hugh Jackman. “Hey, everyone. We’re extremely sad to have missed D23, but we have been working extremely hard on the next Deadpool film for a good long while now,” Reynolds said in the video. “I had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character. Find new depth and motivation, new meaning. Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart.”

Jackman is then seen walking by in the background. “Hey, Hugh. You wanna play Wolverine one more time?” Reynolds asks the X-Men star. “Yeah, sure Ryan,” Jackman casually responds. Needless to say, the comic book movie community quickly lost their minds.

Reyolds and Jackman have since appeared together to answer questions regarding Wolverine’s return, namely how it will affect 2017’s Logan. “Yes. I had a lot of questions. But rest assured, we’re going to answer them right now,” Jackman begins.

“Logan takes place in 2029. Totally separate thing. Logan died in Logan. Not touching that,” Reynolds confirms, to the relief of X-Men, Wolverine, and Logan fans everywhere.

“Thank you, Kevin Feige,” concludes Reynolds, with Jackman adding, “Love you, Kevin Feige. Thank you, MCU.”

Directed by Shawn Levy, written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool 3 is now scheduled to be released on September 6, 2024.
