Vincent D’Onofrio played a perfect poker face when addressing his possible return to the MCU prior to his appearance in Hawkeye’s finale. After his character of Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk was presumed to have been killed by Echo in the final moments of the series, the fan belief that this “death” wouldn’t last long has been proven right as Kingpin is now set to return in both the Echo series and the newly confirmed Daredevil: Born Again. D’Onofrio wasted no time in reacting to the announcement of the new series, with a pair of tweets encompassing the old and new Daredevil shows.

Back in December 2021, both Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox brought their respective characters of Wilson Fisk and Matt Murdoch into the MCU, although in different projects. While Cox made a brief one-scene appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, D’Onofrio had a meatier role in the final of Hawkeye. Following this, both actors have teased more to come from their characters in the MCU, and now we know much more about when that will be. While it was confirmed a few weeks ago that both actors will appear as part of the Echo spin-off, the SDCC confirmation of a new 18-part Daredevil series is now what fans, and it seems D’Onofrio, are most excited about.
In his initial post, the actor wrote, “When I was a boy…”, quoting the line from the original Daredevil series, which recently moved all of its episodes from Netflix to Disney+ along with the rest of the Defenders Saga. He followed this up by sharing the new Daredevil Born Again logo as revealed on Saturday, and commented, “Yes, Mr Murdoch.”
Daredevil and Kingpin Will Return Ahead of the New Series
While Daredevil Born Again has a release date of 2024, both Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk will return to the MCU in other Disney+ series before that. Charlie Cox is now reprising his role in both next month’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series as well as Echo next year, and Vincent D’Onofrio will also return in the latter of these. Considering the timeline of these shows, it is very possible that the events of Echo will be responsible for bringing the enemies together and could then lead to Daredevil Born Again.
D’onofrio managed to spark speculation about the imminent return of Kingpin in June when he shared an image of himself seemingly training in the gym ahead of stepping into the white suit of the crime boss once again. At the time, there was no official word that the actor would be taking on the role again after Hawkeye, but to many fans, there was no chance that Kingpin was the type of character to be brought back for a handful of scenes and then dropped again. Now the truth is out just how extensive a role in the MCU D’Onofrio will have, we can likely expect more social media shares from the actor in the not-too-distant future.
