Billie Lord, Colin Hanks, and Aisling Bea Sign on for And Mrs

Billie Lord, Colin Hanks, and Aisling Bea have signed on for the transatlantic comedy And Mrs, which is set to begin shooting in east London this fall. It centers on a woman living in London named Gemma (Bea), whose American fiancé Nathan (Hanks) dies shortly before their wedding day is scheduled to happen. Unless there are several flashback scenes, it sounds like Hanks is going to be in the movie for only a short amount of time.

Audrey (Lourd), Nathan’s chaotic but well-meaning sister, ends up encouraging Gemma to go ahead with the wedding, despite the groom being, you know, dead. Gemma agrees and ends up having to overcome public opinion, the law of the land, and even the objections that come from her own family.

And Mrs will be directed by Australian director Daniel Reisinger, whose YouTube Originals series Sideswiped garnered more than 55 million views. It will be written by up-and-coming playwright Melissa Bubnic, who is currently writing episodes of Nautilus for Disney+ and A Town Called Malice and Stan’s Two Hands for Sky Max.

“And Mrs is the comedy we need after the last couple of years, one which helps us laugh through the tears. We’re lucky to have a cast gifted enough to nail the unique tone and who really embody their characters,” said Reisinger.

The film will mark the second feature for comedy producer Dan Hine’s London Label, Who’s on First. Hine himself will serve as a producer on And Mrs alongside the U.S. producing and financing partners FirstGen Content. Executive producers for the film from FirstGen include Michael D’Alto, Chris Triana, Claude Amadeo, and Randal Sandler.

Where You Might Have Seen These Actors Before

“We are absolutely delighted to be working with these three actors, who all share a deep personal connection to the material. It feels like this story has really found its moment post-pandemic — we cannot wait to bring it to life,” said Hine.

Previously, Bea was in the British comedy-drama series This Way Up, which she also wrote in addition to playing Aine, the main character. She also starred in Living With Yourself as Kate Elliot, the wife to Paul Rudd’s Miles Elliot. Bea also played Sarah in the Doctor Who episode “Eve of the Daleks” alongside Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor.

Hanks appeared in the first season of Fargo, the anthology series based on the film of the same name. Recently, he was seen as Barry Lapidus in the Paramout+ drama The Offer, a dramatization about the making of Francis Ford Coppola’s classic, The Godfather. Hanks also appeared in Pacocks’ true crime limited drama series A Friend of the Family.

Back in 2015, Lourd appeared in Scream Queens as Chanel #3, aka Sadiw Swenson. That same year she also appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Liteutant Kaydel Ko Connix. Besides starring in multiple seasons of American Horror Story, Lourd also appeared in Booksmart as Gigi and will next appear in the George Clooney, Julia Roberts comedy Ticket to Paradise.
