The artwork has Michael Keaton sporting a fully black costume, with the bright yellow bat symbol shining bright at the center of his chest. Striking a quintessential Batman pose atop a gargoyle-flanked building, the look of the new bat-suit lines up with what we have seen so far of Keaton’s return in recent leaks.

Michael Keaton will reprise the role of Bruce Wayne AKA Batman after three decades, with the actor as excited as we all are to see his character return. The actor has since discussed slipping into the black rubber bodysuit all over again after all these years, revealing that he was surprised by how well everything fit. “It was shockingly normal. It was weird. Like I went, ‘Oh, oh yeah, that’s right’,” Keaton explained. “But also then you start to play the scenes, and it was a lot of memories, a lot of interesting sense memories.”

Michael Keaton Will Play Batman in Both The Flash & Batgirl

Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. has big plans for Michael Keaton’s beloved iteration of Batman, with the actor due to play the role in two upcoming DC projects. Keaton will first reprise the role in the upcoming Batgirl movie, which will follow Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon AKA Batgirl. Directed by Bad Boys for Life filmmaking duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, and from a screenplay by Christina Hodson, Batgirl stars J. K. Simmons, Jacob Scipio, and Brendan Fraser, alongside Leslie Grace and Michael Keaton.

Batgirl is expected to detail the origin of Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner James Gordon, as she becomes a vigilante in Gotham City and is scheduled to be released on HBO Max in 2022.

Keaton will then play a major role in the long-gestating The Flash movie. Starring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen AKA The Flash, the story will take inspiration from the comic book arc, Flashpoint, and finds Barry attempting to prevent his mother’s murder by traveling back in time. Of course, as so often happens with these things, Barry manages to make things even worse, emerging in an alternate reality. The Flash has reportedly been “extraordinarily well received” in test screenings, with footage from CinemaCon offering some insight into how Keaton’s Batman will be portrayed when he returns after all these years.

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson and starring Ron Livingston, Michael Keaton, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Sasha Calle, and Ben Affleck alongside Ezra Miller, The Flash is scheduled to be released on June 23, 2023, following many, many delays.
