Amber Midthunder Earns Universal Praise for Prey Performance

It’s looking like Prey star Amber Midthunder has turned out to be the most formidable foe to the Predator since Arnold Schwarzenegger. The upcoming Predator prequel, which hits Hulu on Aug. 5, has been performing very well with its early reviews from critics. Many are even saying that Prey is the best film in the movie series since the original and it’s looking to be a film that most Predator fans should enjoy.

One aspect that every critic seems to be in agreement about is that Midthunder is amazing with her role in Prey. The Roswell, New Mexico star leads the cast of Prey as a Comanche warrior named Naru who winds up targeted by the very first Predator to invade the planet. She is said to particularly shine in this film according to movie critics sharing the opinions with a recent embargo lifted on reviews.

“Prey is, indeed, the best Predator entry since PREDATOR,” tweets Matt Donato. “All praise to Amber Midthunder who owns the screen against her alien foe. It’s back to the bloody basics of a thrilling hunt that delivers everything I want from a Predator flick in its brutally primal glory.”

“I may not be at SDCC but I’ve seen Prey and let me add my voice to the choir, this is a very, very cool movie,” says Collider’s Nate Richard. “An intense thrill ride from start to finish. Amber Midthunder is a total badass in the lead. No clue why this didn’t go to theaters.”

“Prey pays homage to the original Predator while delivering something fresh,” says CBR’s Ashley Saunders. “Raw action balanced w/ suspense, Trachtenberg knows how to keep you invested. Amber Midthunder is a FORCE & needs more leading roles. And the Predator? Just be glad he isn’t hunting you.”

Hunter Bolding of That Hashtag Show tweeted, “Prey is absolutely awesome. It makes the Predator scary once again, features some callbacks to Predator 1 and 2, and Amber Midthunder is utterly badass. Such a great action movie, disappointing that it’s not going to theaters.”

“Prey is my favorite Predator movie. (Coming from someone who’s a big fan of the original and also 2010’s Predators.),” tweets Perri Nemiroff of Collider. “Love how the story is a deeply personal journey — one powered by Comanche tradition just as much as it is by Predator-sparked thrills.”

Nemiroff added, “And oh my, Amber Midthunder is A FORCE in that lead role. The stunt work is phenomenal, Dan Trachtenberg and Jeff Cutter always know JUST how to frame their Predator, and they’ve got an A+ dog performance. All the pets to that pup! (And 👏 for the trainers!)”
