Abbott Elementary Receives Season 2 Premiere Date

The hit comedy Abbott Elementary just received its Season 2 debut date via ABC, according to reports from Variety. The series, which premiered for the first time in Dec. 2021, has been a massive success for the broadcast company, which quickly renewed the show for a second season.

Abbott Elementary is created by Quinta Brunson, who writes the series and stars as Janine Teagues. She is joined by Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, and Sheryl Lee Ralph. The show follows a group of teachers brought together in one of the worst public schools in the country simply because they love teaching. Abbott Elementary is immensely popular, garnering a rare 98 percent rating among critics and 90 percent with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s the most popular comedy on ABC among adults 18-49 and will hope to sustain this success after moving to a new night, joining Wednesday’s stacked lineup. Abbott Elementary Season 2 will premiere this fall, Sept. 21st, from 9:00-9:30 p.m. ET.

Wednesday is home to several other ABC heavy hitters, including The Conners, The Goldbergs, Home Economics, and the thriller-mystery series Big Sky. ABC hopes that the inclusion of Abbott Elementary in a Wednesday primetime spot will draw an even larger crowd to the program, which should be a contender next award season.
